Mardi Gras

Tennessee Williams New Orleans Literary Festival
A popular event for a quarter of a century, the 5-day Tennessee Williams New Orleans Literary Festival commemorates the revered playwright and writer who lived in New Orleans. 

French Quarter Festival
This award-winning festival, which began in 1984, has grown to become the largest free music festival in the South.
 
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, aka Jazz Fest, is a 7-day cultural feast in which thousands of musicians, cooks and craftspeople welcome 400,000 visitors each year. 

New Orleans Wine & Food Experience
A city-wide celebration of cuisine, the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, a popular event for more than 20 years.

Essence Music Festival
 One of the main New Orleans, Louisiana events and festivals, this arts, music and empowerment festival celebrating contemporary African-American music and culture attracts nearly 200,000 visitors.

Tales of the Cocktail
Recognized as the word’s premier cocktail festival, Tales of the Cocktail celebrates the claim that the first ever modern cocktail, the Sazerac, was created in New Orleans' French Quarter. 

Satchmo Summerfest
A special long weekend event honoring Louis Armstrong, his music and his life, the Satchmo Summerfest features a wealth of music.

Ponderosa Stomp Festival
An American roots music festival.

New Orleans Film Festival
Features a wide range of more than 1,250 major and short films from all over America and around the world.
 
Voodoo Experience
Attracting more than 100,000 fans to New Orleans’ City Park each year, the Voodoo Experience a multi-day music and arts festival features popular rock bands that appeal to a younger audience.

Local Malls

French Market
The French Market is a bustling, open air shopping center that can hold up over 220 vendors on a given day. 

Oakwood Center
The big department stores here are Dillard's, Sears and jcpenny. 

North Shore Square Mall
New Orleans isn't littered with malls directly in the city center. To get to the North Shore Square Mall, you have to take a drive over the beautiful Lake Pontchartrain into nearby Slidell. 

Clearview Mall
Clearview Mall is in Metairie, a 20 minute drive from the French Quarter depending on traffic. A traditional mall that has undergone some major renovation.

Lakeside Shopping Center
This expansive retail hub is one of the area's most popular malls with more than 120 well-known stores including Dillard's.

Elmwood Center
Elmwood isn't an enclosed mall, but a sprawling outdoor collection of department stores, boutiques, big box retailers and more.

The Esplanade Mall
An easy drive from downtown New Orleans, this shopping mall in Kenner is not far from the airport. 

Shops at Jax Brewery
The Shops at Jax Brewery are located in an architecturally striking 19th century former beer brewing facility. 

The Shops at Canal Place
