Annual Events

Indianapolis 500 Festival
Indianapolis is largely defined by the historic Indianapolis 500 and the grand community festival that surrounds it. With nearly 50 annual events and programs, the 500 Festival fuels the entire magical month of May. Last year, nearly 500,000 Hoosiers and visitors participated in festival activities throughout the month of May. 

OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon
This is the largest half-marathon in America, selling out the past 11 years and drawing nearly 40,000 participants. 

Zoopolis 500
In tandem with the popular Indy 500 motor race, Zoopolis 500 features tortoises trundling as fast as they can to reach the finishing line edged with tempting fruit platters.

Eitejorg Museum’s Indian Market and Festival
A popular event for 20 years, the Eitejorg Museum’s Indian Market and Festival, a celebration of Native American cultures and one of the largest Indian markets in the Midwest, features art from more than 160 Native artists.

Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration
Summer Celebration is the largest African-American event in the nation, with over 300,000 people in attendance. 

IndyFringe Festival
One of 20 active fringe festivals in the USA, the ten-day IndyFringe Festival in Indianapolis has become an important summer event in Indiana attracting tens of thousands of people and featuring more than 36 theatre companies.

Indiana State Fair
The Indiana State Fair, nationally recognized as America's premiere showcase of agriculture, youth, education and entertainment, is the 6th oldest State Fair in the country.

Indy Jazz Fest
Indy Jazz Fest is 10 days of concerts, master classes and panel discussions in various locations around Indianapolis every September.

Chatham Arch
East of Downtown Indy lies Chatham Arch, one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, whose winding, irregular streets reveal its mid-19thcentury origins. 

Fletcher Place
Fletcher Place is one of Indy’s historic districts (listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979) 

Lockerbie Square Historic District
It’s the oldest residential neighborhood in the city that is still intact. 

Massachusetts Avenue
The heart of Indy’s art district and is home to the city’s most fashionable residents. 

University Heights
A popular location for university employees and their families. 

Downtown
Today it’s a hip and cosmopolitan neighborhood, where you’ll find a mix of hotels, convention centers and business offices. 

Wholesale District
Now you’ll find many high-rises with cast-iron designs, as well as Italianate and Romanesque buildings here.You’ll find a thriving art and entertainment hub.

Woodruff Place
Wealthy homeowners who need to be close to the business district but still want to live in green surroundings. 

Carmel
One of the most rapidly expanding and wealthiest cities in Indiana, and a suburb to the north of Indianapolis.

Broad Ripple Village
It’s known in the area for its social, ethnic and economic diversity, as well as its progressive political views and active social scene.
